Spain resumed training on Monday after securing their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, where they will face Portugal.

The squad trained at Dignity Health Sports Park, home to LA Galaxy, focusing on recovery work for starters from the previous match against Austria. Among those absent from on-pitch training were four Barcelona players – Lamine Yamal, Aymeric Laporte, Pedro Porro, and Nico Williams – who undertook recovery sessions in the gym.

Dani Olmo also trained separately, spending part of the session on a stationary bike. Having impressed in the previous game, he is expected to keep his spot in the starting lineup for the upcoming Round of 16 fixture.

For Barcelona, having multiple players in the Spain squad at this stage means continued close monitoring of their fitness and recovery to avoid injuries while maintaining performance levels. The match against Portugal is seen as one of the toughest challenges of the tournament for La Roja, with Ronaldo leading the opposition.

Spain will continue preparations in Dallas, focusing on tactical and physical readiness ahead of the game in three days’ time.
