Hamza Abdelkarim is experiencing a pivotal moment with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup. After Egypt’s Round of 32 victory over Australia, he is preparing for a high-profile match against Argentina.

Abdelkarim highlighted his focus on the pitch. “I am here to play football, so I try not to pay attention to what is said outside. When I enter the pitch, I do what makes me happy,” he told Egypt Today.

Showing great respect for Egypt’s captain, Mohamed Salah, Abdelkarim shared how Salah has provided guidance since the start of the tournament. “A history like Salah’s is indescribable, and to be beside him is a dream and an honour for me,” said the young striker.

Regarding the upcoming match with Argentina, Hamza demonstrated maturity: “We are playing Argentina, not Messi.” His coach, Hossam Hassan, told him before coming on to be “the reason we win, God willing.”

For Barcelona, Hamza’s involvement in the national team entails additional workload but serves as motivation for his growth. His presence and mindset at the World Cup align with the club's expectations for young players, suggesting he could continue making strides towards the first team.
