Coach Hansi Flick now fines players for being late instead of benching them.
Barcelona stars Pedri and Ferran Torres recently arrived late to a meeting, prompting Flick to soften his stance on punctuality. Previously, he would bench players who were late, but now he issues fines instead.
According to RAC1, the change was influenced by players feeling singled out and uncomfortable as the news about their punishment often leaked to the media. The atmosphere in the dressing room suggested the sanctions were too harsh.
The situation escalated after reports claimed Flick wanted to drop Lamine Yamal for being late to a meeting before a Champions League match with PSG but was overruled by Deco.
Flick initially called the rumors "bulls***," but Barcelona captains spoke with him and Deco, suggesting it was time to change the approach.
As a result, since October, Flick has implemented fines instead of benching players for lateness.
