Barcelona has officially not considered signing Bernardo Silva as a priority. According to Spanish media reports, the Portuguese midfielder’s decision to reject the offered terms did not cause any issues within the club.

At 32 years old, Silva was viewed more as a luxury than a necessity. The midfield is already well-covered, and Silva did not address any critical needs for Barcelona. This contrasts with past signings such as Robert Lewandowski in 2022, which met a clear team requirement.

Furthermore, Silva’s transfer depended on the club offloading certain players like Casadó and Roony, meaning Barcelona needed more time, which Silva was unwilling to grant despite his agent’s indication that a decision would come after the World Cup.

From a financial standpoint, Barcelona could not raise its offer due to internal salary constraints, while Real Madrid reportedly presented a better deal. Consequently, Silva appears set to move to Madrid. Barcelona has officially confirmed no signing has taken place.
