Barcelona has until June 15 to activate the purchase option for Marcus Rashford, set at €30 million, but the club has decided not to proceed with the transfer. Despite this setback, the 28-year-old English winger remains hopeful about continuing with the Catalan side.

Currently focused on representing England at the World Cup, Rashford’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain upon his return. The player is still optimistic about extending his loan or negotiating a transfer under new financial terms. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann personally assured Rashford that he counts on him, which helps maintain the player’s morale.

Barcelona has not yet closed the case with the forward and is carefully monitoring its attacking lineup ahead of the 2026/27 season. After signing Anthony Gordon, the club aims to strengthen the squad further with Julián Álvarez and confirm the continued presence of Ferran Torres and Raphinha.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and coach Michael Carrick are open to Rashford’s return. Other European clubs, particularly from England and Germany, are also showing interest. Rashford’s contract with United runs until June 2028.

In the past season, Marcus played 49 matches, scored 14 goals, and provided 14 assists. Though Barcelona chose not to activate the buy option, Rashford’s desire to remain in the team remains strong.
