Barcelona is determined to reinforce their striker position this summer, but their search has not proceeded as expected. Julian Alvarez remains the top target for the club, with coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco viewing him as the replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who will leave the club once his contract expires.
Among the alternatives are João Pedro, Victor Osimhen, and Harry Kane. Recently, a new name has emerged: 19-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi from Bournemouth, who impressed with 13 goals in 21 Premier League starts. Kroupi has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, and Barcelona reportedly monitors him as well.
Initially, the club planned to consider signing Kroupi in 2027 or 2028 when he is more established at the top European level. However, should the Alvarez deal fall through, Barcelona could bring forward these plans.
Signing Kroupi at this stage would be a significant risk. Bournemouth reportedly expects a fee exceeding €100 million, while Kroupi has only one Premier League season behind him. Given Barcelona's limited funds aimed at strengthening Hansi Flick’s squad, making an ill-judged signing is a risk the club is wary of taking.
