FC Barcelona is looking to finalize at least one significant player departure before June 30 to strengthen its financial position ahead of closing the current accounting year.
Ansu Fati is the player most likely to leave. AS Monaco activated the €11 million purchase option included in last summer’s loan deal. Negotiations are now focused on personal terms for a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.
The club is optimistic the deal will be completed in time for the transfer fee to be recorded in this financial year. Beyond the transfer income, Fati’s departure will also remove one of the club's highest salaries from the wage bill, creating additional room within La Liga’s Fair Play regulations and increasing flexibility for future signings.
Barcelona is also advancing a season-long loan for goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to Ajax. The Dutch club is expected to cover a significant portion of his salary, substantially more than Girona’s contribution last season. This deal will help reduce wage expenses but does not generate a transfer fee.
Earlier this summer, Barcelona secured approximately €3 million from goalkeeper Iñaki Peña’s permanent move to Panathinaikos, just over €1 million in training compensation following Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Real Madrid, and around €400,000 from Sergi Altimira’s move to Sporting CP.
Other players such as Roony Bardghji and Marc Casado remain in negotiations with European clubs but are unlikely to complete their moves before the June 30 deadline. However, if agreements are substantially concluded before month-end, accounting rules may allow the club to record these transfers in the current financial year even if final paperwork is signed shortly after.
Currently, Ansu Fati’s exit remains the key transaction expected to provide Barcelona with a financial boost before the books close.
