Earlier this week, reports surfaced claiming that FC Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde had become a target for Manchester United.
The La Masia graduate has had an inconsistent season so far, with his form fluctuating between good and bad, particularly defensively, yet he remains an integral part of manager Hansi Flick's setup at Barcelona.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs from The United Stand, Balde's name has indeed been discussed at Manchester United, with director Christopher Vivell putting the Spaniard forward as an option.
However, it is unlikely to lead to anything meaningful as the 22-year-old left-back only wants to stay at Barcelona.
So far, there have been no direct talks between the two clubs regarding Balde, nor any discussions between United and the player's representatives.
The Premier League giants, aiming for a top-four finish and a return to the UEFA Champions League next season, already have Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as options at left-back.
If Balde were considering a transfer this summer, Manchester United might have had to reshuffle things at that position, but at this point, the 22-year-old defensive talent does not intend to leave.
This season, Balde, who is contracted to Barcelona until 2028, has played 32 matches across all competitions, registering three assists.
