Carles Agustí, responsible for Víctor Font’s electoral program, outlined an ambitious project for FC Barcelona’s women’s team. The core idea is to create an independent structure for the women’s section, including its own management, budget, and revenue streams.

The plan intends to multiply the women’s budget by five within five years, reaching approximately €60 million. This increase will be driven by leveraging merchandising, marketing, and digital experiences targeted at Barça’s global fanbase of 400 million.

Beyond financial growth, the project addresses negative trends seen in men’s football such as economic laxity and challenges in the transfer market. A key pillar is strengthening the women’s Masia academy, already producing world-class players, by expanding its budget, organization, and staffing to ensure sporting excellence.

Financially, the plan also involves advocating for women’s football-specific fair play rules to maintain competitiveness in Europe. Agustí stresses that Barça must develop women’s football as a distinct entity within the club, with its unique identity and operational autonomy.

Establishing this independent structure combined with substantial budget growth will help Barça avoid pitfalls faced in the men’s team, reinforcing its global standing as a pioneer in women’s football.
