Barcelona are trying to negotiate a permanent fee lower than the €30 million purchase clause with Manchester United, but the Red Devils remain firm and are unwilling to offer discounts or renegotiate the amount.
The 28‑year‑old forward is currently sidelined with a muscle issue and is working on his recovery. He missed training last week and was absent from the Copa del Rey semi‑final first leg against Atlético Madrid due to knee discomfort sustained in the previous game versus RCD Mallorca. He was expected to return for the Girona match on Monday but did not; Fabrizio Romano reports the Manchester United loanee is now expected back next week and could therefore miss a third consecutive game as Barça face Levante on Sunday.
So far on loan Rashford has produced 10 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, and Barcelona are very happy with his spell. While they await his return from the knee issue, the Catalans will likely continue trying to convince Manchester United to agree to a fee below €30 million.
