Marc-André ter Stegen continues training with FC Barcelona’s first team as the final details of his loan move to Ajax are being finalized. Although still contracted to Barcelona until June 2028, the German goalkeeper is set to spend the 2026/27 season on loan in the Netherlands.

According to MARCA, all main agreements with Ajax have been settled, with only some financial matters between Ter Stegen and Barcelona pending. The announcement is expected soon, possibly on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Under coach Hans Flick’s guidance, ter Stegen is participating fully in preseason trainings at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to maintain his fitness. After an injury-plagued previous season, he aims to join Ajax in peak condition. His reunion with coach Michel, who took him on loan to Girona in the 2025/26 winter transfer window, offers optimism for a successful spell ahead.

Barcelona views his departure as part of broader squad changes to be completed before the transfer window closes. These adjustments are planned to maintain competitive balance in the team.

Ter Stegen’s loan will allow him to gain playing time and regain form, while he remains officially a Barcelona player until 2028.
