Lamine Yamal missed a penalty against Girona but did not shrink from responsibility and continued to influence the game.
He was the standout of the second half, repeatedly attacking down the right flank as he tried to make up for his earlier miss.
Despite a frustrating night, Yamal reached a milestone: 100 successful dribbles in La Liga this season. He reached that mark after 199 attempts, meaning he beats defenders in more than half of his one-on-one situations.
That total puts him ahead of every player in Europe’s five major leagues. The next closest is Yan Diomande with 74 successful dribbles from 138 attempts. The gap is even clearer within La Liga: Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr. both sit behind him, and neither has reached 65 dribbles.
Beyond dribbling, Yamal’s overall output has been impressive: 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, for 28 direct goal contributions. Within the Barcelona squad only Marcus Rashford (23 goal involvements) and Fermin Lopez (22) come close. Mbappé still leads the overall contribution charts with 43 involvements (38 goals and 5 assists). Yamal’s numbers at such a young age underline how important he already is to Barcelona’s attack.
