Former FC Barcelona forward Javier Saviola expressed his views on Julián Álvarez's future in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio’s program ‘Tot gira’. He stated clearly, "Barça is the ideal place for Julián Álvarez."
Saviola highlighted Álvarez's versatility: "He is not the typical lethal striker. I see him as very complete, able to play as a winger, behind the striker, or as an attacking midfielder. He’s not just a goal scorer; technically, he’s very skilled."
According to Saviola, Barcelona’s playing style and quality squad create the perfect environment for Álvarez to thrive and take the next step. "At Barça, he could be more involved in the game, surrounded by great players, delivering high performance," he added, noting that Álvarez differs from a more decisive striker like Lewandowski.
Saviola particularly likes Álvarez in the 'mediapunta' role, emphasizing his intelligence and decision-making: "He knows when to drop and find the ball, accelerates well, turns quickly, and has excellent ball control and handling. He can also play as a false nine, fulfilling both roles equally, which makes him so coveted by coaches."
He also commented on national teams, considering Argentina a contender for upcoming tournaments alongside Spain, France, and the Netherlands.
