Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia said he was baffled after Girona's late winner on Monday night was allowed despite what he described as a clear foul in the build-up on Jules Koundé. Fran Beltrán scored late to make it 2-1 to the hosts.

Garcia said he did not see Koundé's play clearly live, but when he watched the replay he was convinced it was a foul — Koundé got to the ball first — and was surprised that the VAR official was not called to review it on the screen.

He added that referees can make mistakes and that it is surprising VAR was not involved, but these things happen and they cannot control it, so they must move on.

Garcia also spoke about his team's performance, saying they need to improve, as they concede too much and too easily. A week without a midweek match will give them time to analyse and work on things, and with a cool head they will try to improve. Barcelona return to action on Sunday afternoon against Levante in La Liga.
