Following Spain’s 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, FC Barcelona has secured representation in the final match scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA. The Spanish squad includes eight Barcelona players: Joan Garcia, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal.
In the semifinals, Spain will face France, whose lineup features Barcelona defender Jules Koundé. Historically, since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Barcelona has consistently had players in the final matches, making this the fifth consecutive tournament with club representation on football’s biggest stage.
Past World Cup champions with Barcelona include Víctor Valdés, Gerard Piqué, Carles Puyol, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Pedro Rodríguez, and David Villa in 2010, as well as Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembélé with France in 2018. In 2022, Barcelona once again had finalists in Dembélé and Jules Koundé. These achievements underscore the club’s role in developing top-level international talent.
Ahead of the semifinal in Dallas on July 14, the exact number of Barcelona players who will appear in the final is still to be decided. On the opposite side of the bracket, England, featuring Barcelona player Anthony Gordon, will face Norway. Should England advance, Barcelona could potentially have representation in both finalists of the tournament.
