Eight days after the Catalan derby at Montilivi, the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) acknowledged an error in the foul committed by Echeverri on Jules Koundé that was not called by the on-field referee Segunda and was also not corrected by VAR in the Girona - Barcelona game.

Following this admission, FC Barcelona posted a strong message on social media accompanied by video clips of the controversial incident that resulted in the final 2-1 in favor of Girona. The club described recognizing the mistake as a major step but emphasized that avoiding such errors in the future is the next challenge.

The Barcelona fans and coach Hansi Flick expressed indignation at the refereeing decisions, recalling other contentious moments in recent matches, including a disallowed goal by Pau Cubarsí in the previous game, which ended 4-0 against Barcelona.

The statement came at a time when Rafa Yuste is acting president of the club after Joan Laporta's resignation ahead of the March 15 elections. The frustration with referees' decisions within Barcelona is clear, and now, after the CTA's acknowledgment, the club has not missed the opportunity to express its stance clearly and strongly.
