Joao Cancelo has been steadily improving at FC Barcelona since his January loan from Al Hilal. Injuries to Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde have given the Portuguese defender opportunities to become a key figure on both the left and right flanks.
According to SPORT, Cancelo is motivated to convert his loan into a permanent deal. Although contracted with the Saudi club until 2027, he is prepared to give up a significant part of his salary to terminate that deal and settle in Barcelona long-term.
At 31, Cancelo has delivered important performances in recent matches against Levante, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Club, Sevilla, and others. He has formed a strong partnership with winger Raphinha on the left, helping him shore up defensive weaknesses.
This combination of consistent displays and financial flexibility boosts his chances of securing a fixed contract and continuing his career at one of Europe’s elite sides.
