Barcelona’s La Masia academy continues to produce incredible talents for the Catalan giants.

Óscar Jorquera, who worked for nine years in Barça’s youth academy and coached players including Lamine Yamal, shared his insights on the next generation. He was particularly asked about a potential replacement for Pedri within the academy.

Jorquera said it is very difficult to find a player like Pedri. However, he mentioned two young midfielders — Pedro Villar and Guille Fernández. According to him, Villar is very prepared for such a role, while Fernández has different characteristics.

Guille Fernández has long been tipped to make it to the first team and made history in 2024 by beating Lamine Yamal’s record as the youngest player ever to feature for Barça Atlètic at just 15 years and 287 days old.
