Barcelona still holds 50% of Virgili's rights and retains the right of first refusal according to the agreement with Mallorca. The club sees him as a potential reinforcement on the left wing, especially amid growing doubts about the possible signing of Marcus Rashford.
Should the deal materialize, Virgili's return would bolster Barcelona's attacking options by adding a fresh and promising option for the winger position.
