Benjamin Sesko transferred to Manchester United only a year ago. After a slow start, he improved and also scored 12 goals in the season. He is viewed as a possible future option should Álvarez prove unattainable.
Barcelona had previously mentioned other names such as Joao Pedro, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Kroupi Junior as Plan B and C candidates.
