Robert Lewandowski, who left Barcelona after four seasons, has made a definitive decision about his career. According to Polish media, the striker is near signing a contract with MLS club Chicago Fire for two years with an option for a third.
Last week, Lewandowski traveled to Chicago to meet with club executives and the coach to assess the sporting project firsthand. He was satisfied with the offer and gave his approval. His official presentation is scheduled for Monday after returning to the United States on Sunday.
Previously, Lewandowski had solid offers from Saudi teams Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, featuring lucrative contracts. However, he and his family chose to continue his career in the United States. The deal with Chicago Fire will pay him over €10 million net per season. After retiring, he could remain involved with the club as an ambassador.
Lewandowski intends to continue playing for the Polish national team and aims to participate in the next European Championship. He is confident in his physical condition and declined to stay at Barcelona in a secondary role, believing he can compete as a starter in the upcoming season.
