Barcelona's search for midfield reinforcements has brought 22-year-old Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra into the spotlight.

Spanish media indicate that Barcelona's interest in Guerra is genuine and exceeds routine scouting. Head coach Hansi Flick and the sporting department appreciate Guerra's technical skills, energy, and ability to impact games.

Negotiations have progressed as Barcelona sporting director Deco has met with Guerra's agents, signaling active steps rather than distant observation.

Valencia, however, considers Guerra an important long-term asset and is not eager to sell this summer. CEO Ron Gourlay has repeatedly expressed the club’s intention to keep the player.

Financially, the deal faces complexity due to Guerra’s release clause changing during the transfer window: €40 million in July, rising to €60 million afterward. This creates a narrow window for a prompt move. Notably, Guerra recently extended his contract until 2029, reducing his former release clause from €100 million to the current figures.

Barcelona will need to decide if they can capitalize on this opportunity to rebuild their midfield under Hansi Flick with Guerra as a key component.
