Marc Cucurella, the Spanish defender who recently transferred from Barcelona to Real Madrid, spoke to El Mundo about his national team experience and shared high praise for Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal.
Cucurella observed that Yamal has matured significantly since the Euros and now fully understands professional football demands: "I’ve noticed a big change in him since the Euros. I think he’s much more mature now. He’s already spent several years in professional football and knows what he has to do."
Despite the added pressure, Cucurella stressed that Yamal remains the same young player at heart and handles the spotlight naturally: "He handles it very well, very naturally. He’s still the same kid. More mature, but the same kid he was before he became such a star or so famous. That’s his best quality: at his age, the way he deals with all of this so naturally. And he’s only 18. I don’t think everyone would be capable of handling that."
The defender also noted Yamal’s status as a rising star, mentioning a billboard of him spotted even in Dubai. Although now club rivals, the two share the pitch in Spain’s national team, united in pursuit of international success.
