Luis Suárez, former striker for both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, shared his views on the ongoing rumours about Julián Álvarez potentially moving to Barcelona. In an interview, Suárez emphasized that a player with Álvarez’s intelligence and experience would have no trouble adapting to the Catalan side.
Suárez stated, "A player who works as hard as Julián will find his spot at Barcelona, where wingers will provide him plenty of chances." He highlighted Álvarez’s strengths including "good offloading and smart movements," which will help him settle quickly into the team.
However, Suárez also expressed caution about the transfer’s outcome. He pointed out that Álvarez is still part of a major club – Atlético Madrid – and that the final decision involves more than the player’s wishes: "Atlético might want him to stay. These next weeks will be an interesting story."
He drew parallels with his own 2013 experience at Liverpool, where despite pushing for a move to Arsenal, he was persuaded by captain Steven Gerrard to stay for another year. Suárez suggested a similar situation could unfold with Álvarez and Atlético’s coach Diego Simeone possibly persuading him to remain for another season.
While no official confirmation exists yet, Suárez’s comments add credibility to ongoing discussions and suggest the situation remains unresolved.
