Joan García, Barcelona’s goalkeeper from Sallent, has expanded his presence beyond football by starring in the promotional campaign for the upcoming film Spider-Man Brand New Day, set to release on July 29, 2026.
Produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures España, the video shows García training when a man approaches him carrying a briefcase decorated with Spider-Man's iconic symbol and hands him red gloves reminiscent of the famous superhero. After trying the gloves, García successfully blocks all shots. Then, a message from Tom Holland, the film's lead actor, appears saying, "He pensado en echarte una mano. Créeme a estos no se les escapa nada." Joan replies, "Gracias tío, ahora la Copa del Mundo está en buenas manos."
Joan García’s outstanding season at Barcelona has earned him recognition not only among football fans but also opened opportunities like representing one of summer's major blockbusters. This collaboration highlights how players are connecting with popular culture and engaging with audiences in innovative ways.
García’s growing popularity off the pitch reflects his impact as both an athlete and a public figure. It is expected he will continue merging his sporting success with creative projects in the future.
