Ronaldinho, former Barcelona star and one of the club’s brightest legends, has officially signed with Italian Serie C side Ravenna at the age of 46.

The club announced the deal on their website, confirming that Ronaldinho will be officially registered as a player. He expressed his happiness about joining Ravenna: “New colors, same smile. I cannot wait to dance with the ball and write a beautiful new story with Ignazio Cipriani and the Cipriani family. Football has always been joyful for me, and I’m excited to bring that spirit to Ravenna. Let the magic begin!”

Ravenna’s owner Ignazio Cipriani, a long-time Ronaldinho fan, revealed that the Brazilian will play at least one match in the upcoming Serie C season. The exact timing of his league debut will depend on several factors but will certainly be at a home game. Ronaldinho will not participate in the preseason training camp but will join the team presentation event on August 21.

Cipriani also shared that prolonged negotiations with Ronaldinho and his brother eventually led to the player embracing the club’s project with enthusiasm. Beyond playing, Ronaldinho will also take on a role in the club’s management and aims to score the final goal of his professional career wearing Ravenna’s shirt. The club will also launch his R10 technical brand, making Ravenna the first team to sport it.
