Barcelona coach Hansi Flick appeared serious and critical after his side's 2-1 defeat at Montilivi.
He avoided dwelling on the controversial refereeing of Girona's second goal but made his view clear: 'I don't want to talk about it, everyone has seen what happened on the second goal,' and rhetorically asked whether it was a foul, implying no further comment was needed.
At the same time, Flick refused to blame officials and pointed directly to his team's performance, especially after the break: the second half was really poor and they were weak defensively. He warned that while there are no excuses, the level of refereeing matched the level of their play, which was not good.
The coach acknowledged the team is not in its best moment and faces a long road to get back to fighting for first place. He also mentioned accumulated fatigue — the squad is tired and not fresh, and needs more hunger to win, more control and fewer mistakes.
Flick stressed shared responsibility: no excuses, they didn't do their job and must improve. He noted Barcelona had many chances in the first half and Girona in the second; the team failed in transitions and defensive work, and their positioning, especially in midfield, was poor with too many errors.
As an immediate measure he gave the squad two days off to rest and recover before the next match. Everyone is disappointed but will fight; they will return on Thursday to normal training and prepare better. Flick hopes to regain key players in the coming days — Pedri, Rashford and possibly Gavi — whose returns could mark a turning point.
