Tottenham Hotspur and Argentina defender Cristian Romero is reportedly considering a move to Spain, with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid among the top contenders.

Romero’s contract with Spurs runs until 2029 following an extension signed last year, so Tottenham are not obliged to sell unless convinced of the right offer. The player also needs to be assured about the sporting project and salary on offer.

Barcelona is looking at central defensive options amid potential departures but nothing has been confirmed yet. Romero is noted for his tough tackling and technique, having played and won at the highest levels, making him an appealing candidate for the Catalan side.

Atlético Madrid has an additional advantage due to the Argentine connection: head coach Diego Simeone and several national teammates in the squad. Intriguingly, one of those players, Julián Álvarez, is reportedly seeking a move to Barcelona.
