FC Barcelona has officially signed 22-year-old striker Ignasi Quer to join Barça Atlètic, the club’s reserve team, on a free transfer from CE L’Hospitalet. The forward’s contract runs until June 30, 2028, reflecting Barcelona’s long-term plan to develop the young talent within their structure.
Quer closed out the 2025/26 campaign with an impressive tally of 20 goals in the Tercera Federación division. He started the season at UE Vic, scoring five goals, before transferring mid-season to CE L’Hospitalet, where he netted 15 goals in less than six months. His scoring helped L’Hospitalet reach the promotion playoffs, although the team was ultimately eliminated by CF Badalona. Quer further showcased his clutch ability by scoring twice in the first leg of the playoff.
Born in Gurb, Quer developed through several youth setups across Catalonia, including Manresa, Vic Riuprimer, Manlleu, and Girona. Notably, he played alongside his brother Pius at Vic’s first team and had the experience of facing Atlético Madrid in the 2024-25 Copa del Rey.
As a player, Quer is characterized as a traditional number 9 striker—ambidextrous, physically strong, and robust in duels. Standing at 1.78 meters, he compensates for modest height with aerial effectiveness and versatility, occasionally taking positions on the wings. Beyond his football career, he is pursuing studies in Physical Activities and Sports Sciences (CAFE), revealing his commitment to personal development.
This signing marks Barça Atlètic’s second confirmed reinforcement after defender Javi Castro from Mallorca. It signals the club’s intent to strengthen the reserve team’s offensive capabilities following a difficult season that saw them fail to achieve promotion from the Segunda Federación.
The presence of Barcelona’s Youth Football Director José Ramón Alexanko during the signing underscores the importance placed on integrating talents like Quer into the club’s broader sporting project.
