Ahead of the upcoming season, FC Barcelona will change its usual summer preparation pattern. After several years of extensive international tours, the team will revert to a traditional training camp set in a peaceful European location, most likely Germany. This decision is primarily driven by head coach Hansi Flick’s preference for a traditional preseason approach.

The shift is also due to the football calendar — with the winter World Cup, many key players will return from international duty later, making long summer tours impractical. Additionally, the oversaturation of the U.S. market during the World Cup limits opportunities for American tours.

Although Barcelona is foregoing a large-scale tour, the club plans to play friendly matches to maintain match fitness and offset lost revenues. An international friendly in Peru has already been signed and may take place after the European camp. The club is also considering an additional match in Asia post-camp.

Returning to a classic training camp highlights Barcelona’s intent to manage preseason time more effectively, taking into account the winter World Cup scheduling and the head coach’s preferences. This approach may provide the team with greater stability and better game-building ahead of the season start.
