Barcelona is in advanced talks to sign 19-year-old defender Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander. Following the acquisition of Anthony Gordon, the club looks set to announce its second summer signing soon. Sporting director Deco has been actively working on several deals, with Salinas being a key target.

Salinas played a standout role for Racing in the 2025/26 season, helping his team secure promotion back to La Liga. His performances attracted interest from multiple clubs, but Barcelona has led the race. The young defender has chosen to join the La Liga champions, aiming for a place in Hansi Flick’s first-team squad.

The urgency to complete the deal before June 30 stems from the current release clause set at €8 million, which will double to €16 million from July 1. Barcelona aims to negotiate an arrangement that could include loaning a youth player to Racing to ease the financial terms but is prepared to pay the €8 million if necessary.

Jorge Salinas is expected to be a valuable addition to Barcelona’s defense next season, bringing potential and competition to the backline.
