With the summer transfer window approaching, the left-back position has once again become a topic of debate at FC Barcelona.

Alejandro Balde has experienced a dip in form, leading to no appearances in the last two matches, as Hansi Flick prefers Gerard Moreno and Joao Cancelo, the latter only on loan until the season's end.

As a result, the Blaugrana are monitoring potential options to strengthen the left-back spot in the summer.

Barcelona’s sporting department has turned its attention to 22-year-old Nathaniel Brown, who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.

This season, Brown has emerged as one of the major revelations in the Bundesliga with 31 appearances, six assists, and three goals from the left-back position.

His high-level performances caught the eye of Julian Nagelsmann, who gave him his official debut for the German national team last October in a World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is said to be a strong admirer of Brown and has requested his signing in the upcoming summer window.

The coach aims to ensure greater squad depth and competition across all positions, offering Brown a genuine opportunity to compete for a starting role if his performances justify it.

Barcelona is familiar with his qualities. In this season’s Champions League match between the Catalans and Eintracht, he played the full 90 minutes and provided the assist for Ansgar Knauff’s goal.

Securing Brown’s services from Germany will not be straightforward for Barcelona this summer. Several leading European clubs have contacted his representatives in recent weeks.

Manchester City and Liverpool appear best placed to sign the German international, while Real Madrid and Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation.

It is expected to become a prolonged race, with the transfer fee potentially rising to €65 million, a figure Barcelona are currently unwilling to meet.
