Twelve FC Barcelona players have been called up by their respective national teams for the upcoming break, where they will compete to earn the first points in the qualification phase for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
Seven players called by Sonia Bermúdez will represent Spain: Ona Batlle; Clara Serrajordi, Vicky López, Alexia Putellas, Patri Guijarro; Clàudia Pina, and Salma Paralluelo. The Spanish squad also notably features many names from Barça’s youth system: Laia Codina (Arsenal), Marina Fernández (Everton), Lucía Corrales (London City Lionesses), Jana Fernández (London City Lionesses), Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal), and Ornella Vignola (Everton).
Other call-ups include Sydney Sherenleib for Switzerland, Kika Nazareth for Portugal, Esmee Brug for the Netherlands, Ewa Pajor and Emilia Szymzak (from the B team) for Poland, and Caroline Graham Hansen for Norway. Giulia Dragoni, loaned to AS Roma this season, is called up to the Italy national team.
From Barça’s initial squad, except for the injured Aitana Bonmatí, Mapi León, Laia Alexandri and Cata Coll (the last to be injured), only Gemma Font, María Torrejón, Aïcha Cámara and Irene Paredes are not called up, with the latter absent for personal reasons, as confirmed by the Spanish coach in a press conference.
Spain will face Iceland on March 3 at 19:00 in Castellón and Ukraine on March 7 at 18:00 in Antalya, Turkey. Switzerland will face Northern Ireland on March 3 at 19:00 in Lausanne and Malta on March 7 at 19:00 in Ta'Qali.
Portugal will play Finland on March 3 at 17:45 in Paços de Ferreira and Slovakia on March 7 at 15:00 in Barcelos. The Netherlands will face Poland on March 3 at 18:00 in Gdansk and Ireland on March 7 at 20:45 in Utrecht.
Poland will play the Netherlands on March 3 at 18:00 in Gdansk and face France on March 7 at 21:10 in Dijon. Norway will face Austria on March 3 at 18:00 in Enzersdorf and Germany on March 7 at 18:00 in Stavanger.
Italy will play Sweden on March 3 at 18:15 in Reggio di Calabria and Denmark on March 7 at 18:15 in Vicenza.
