Barcelona won 4-0 against Eibar in Round 20 of Liga F Moeve, extending their strong run at the top of the table. Goals came from Ewa Pajor (13'), Claudia Pina (35'), Patri Guijarro (40') and Irene Paredes (61'). After the match the leaders have 92 goals in 20 matches and 57 points — 13 more than Real Madrid, who play Alhama on Sunday.
Coach Pere Romeu had to manage without several injured players: Cata Coll, Laia Aleixandri, Mapi León and Aitana Bonmatí were absent. Romeu also left starters such as Ona Batlle, Vicky López and Caroline Graham on the bench. The game began with a minute of silence for the death of María Torrejón’s father; Torrejón wore the captain's armband, and the team displayed a shirt in support of Aleixandri, who faces a year out. Coll's knee injury is less serious and is expected to keep her out for around a month.
Eibar's compact 5-4-1 defensive setup made it hard for Barcelona to play freely, but the visitors still produced decisive actions. Esmee Brugts played a key role, assisting Pajor after a fine Salma Paralluelo run for the opening goal, and later providing the pass that allowed Pina to score before halftime. Pajor and Pina now top the league scorers chart with 16 and 15 goals respectively.
In the second half Eibar kept fighting and prevented a heavier defeat mainly through committed play and the good work of goalkeeper Laura Marín, who came out decisively on several occasions. Her only notable mistake came on a corner which led to Paredes’ goal. Caroline Graham provided an assist on her first touch after coming on earlier.
