FC Barcelona has officially submitted a request to UEFA to reschedule the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

The club's presidential elections are scheduled for March 15, coinciding with a home match against Sevilla set for 16:15. La Liga noted the match could be moved to Saturday if Barcelona must play on March 17 in the Champions League second leg. However, Barcelona has formally requested that the return leg be played on Wednesday, March 18 to avoid a scheduling conflict.

UEFA's response is awaited, as the request is unusual and depends on the calendar: the first leg would be played on March 10 away.

Barcelona will host the return leg as they finished in the top 8 and will face a team advancing from the playoff phase. PSG or Newcastle are likely opponents. PSG beat Monaco 3-2 away, while Newcastle convincingly defeated Qarabag 6-1.

The draw to determine Barcelona’s opponent will take place on Friday. It promises to be a challenging test on the road to the final set for May 30 in Budapest.
