Ahead of the official start of the presidential election campaign at FC Barcelona, a large number of first-team players who are also club members signed in support of Joan Laporta. Players with voting rights due to their long-term membership publicly endorsed the former president.
Team coach Hansi Flick also expressed his support, albeit discreetly, without public displays or promotional material in the locker room or club premises. Some players, including Dani Olmo and Gerard Moreno, as well as women’s team player Aitana Bonmatí, subtly or clearly indicated their backing for Laporta.
Prominent club figures such as Deco and Bojan visited the ‘Salvem el Barça’ electoral headquarters and physically signed in support of Laporta, with their photos publicly circulated. Laporta and his team conducted a relatively low-key signature collection before the official campaign launch, focusing on groundwork rather than large-scale events.
Wide support from key players and influential figures could be a decisive factor in the upcoming presidential election. It reflects internal unity within the club and sets the tone for the formal campaign, which is crucial for the club’s stability and progress.
