Barcelona president Joan Laporta has outlined the club’s transfer priorities ahead of summer 2026, emphasizing that signing a new central striker is not mandatory.

The club plans to reinforce its central defense, while a replacement for Robert Lewandowski might only be pursued if conditions are favorable. Lewandowski’s contract expires in June, and a move to MLS is possible. However, Laporta highlighted confidence in current strong forward options — Ferran Torres and Lewandowski himself — as well as other players capable of playing as a number nine.

Sporting director Deco has been praised for his work in renewing the squad and extending contracts with young players, securing the club’s present and future. Laporta stressed that transfer decisions will be based on financial prudence and team improvement.

Therefore, Barcelona will avoid rushing to sign a new striker without clear justification, focusing instead on balanced squad strengthening and strategic market opportunities.
