Barcelona has slowed down transfers after signing Anthony Gordon, but plans to bring in more players in the coming weeks.
For major arrivals, departures of current squad members are essential. Jules Kounde is currently in a grey area, with uncertainty about his future at the club.
Reports from Spanish media indicate that Kounde remains an important part of Hansi Flick’s squad but has lost the ‘untransferable’ tag he held until last year. Barcelona is not actively seeking to sell him but is willing to listen to offers.
The right-back’s recent performances have been decent but inconsistent, and occasional detachment from the team is a concern. His name has come up in several of sports director Deco’s conversations with agents of potential right-back targets. Barcelona will not sign a replacement unless Kounde leaves.
Kounde himself is happy in Catalonia and sees no urgent need to move on. He aims to regain his top form and continue as a starter, something the club also hopes for. He is under contract until 2030 and is under no obligation to leave.
Last season, the 27-year-old played 30 league games, scoring one goal and providing three assists. He helped keep eight clean sheets and averaged more than eight defensive actions per match.
