Left central defender Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth, whose contract ends on June 30, is on Hansi Flick’s list to reinforce Barcelona’s defense.

According to The Touchline, the German coach sees in the Argentine player a profile similar to Iñigo Martínez. Senesi, 28 years old, is a key player for Bournemouth under coach Antoni Iraola and is regularly called up to Lionel Scaloni’s Argentine national team.

Senesi holds an Italian passport, which means he wouldn't take up a foreign player spot. Besides Barcelona, other clubs such as Tottenham, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and even Chelsea have shown interest in the defender.

Former Barcelona player Jean Marie Dongou states that Senesi is a very technical player, perhaps more refined than Iñigo Martínez, but lacks speed to be a standout defender. Dongou describes Senesi as a mix of Martínez and Alessandro Bastoni but expresses doubts about his physical traits to compete at Barcelona’s level.
