FC Barcelona is close to officially confirming the sale of forward Ansu Fati to Monaco. The 23-year-old academy graduate will leave the Catalan club in a deal worth 11 million euros, agreed as a purchase option during his loan spell.

Spanish media report that Monaco informed Barcelona in April of their intention to pay the agreed amount. Both parties have reached an agreement on a four-season contract, making the negotiations nearly complete.

This transfer is financially and sportingly beneficial for Barcelona. Besides the significant income, Fati's departure will ease the club's wage bill, which is crucial under La Liga's financial fair play rules.

Previously, the club finalized Iñaki Peña's transfer to Panathinaikos for 3 million euros and Marc Cucurella's move to Real Madrid, which brought 1.35 million euros as training compensation.

Fati's high salary had been a burden on Barcelona's budget. The intention is to finalize the deal before June 30 to reflect the transaction positively in the club's current fiscal year results. This aligns with Barcelona's strategic interests in this summer's transfer window.
