Club Career

Jan Virgili is an attacking player who came through FC Barcelona’s youth structure and made a strong impact at youth level before taking steps toward Barça Atlètic. During the 2024/25 season, he played for the U19A side under Juliano Belletti and became one of the most visible attacking players in the team. Barcelona officially reported that he played 30 matches that season: 17 in the league, 5 in the Copa del Rey Juvenil, and 8 in the UEFA Youth League. Across those competitions, he scored 6 goals — 3 in the league and 3 in Europe. Those strong performances with U19A led to his debut for Barça Atlètic. The club confirmed that he went on to make 6 appearances for the reserve side during that season. In the spring of 2025, he also started making a direct impact at that level: he scored in the important win over Sestao River in April and then netted twice against Lugo in May. Those performances showed that he could contribute not only in youth football, but also in a more demanding competitive environment. The 2024/25 season was also especially successful for him at team level. Barcelona officially highlighted that the U19A side won the UEFA Youth League and completed a historic treble by also winning the league and the cup. Virgili was part of that side, which left a significant mark in the club’s academy history. In March 2025, Barcelona officially extended his contract until 30 June 2027. However, his path at the club came to an end later that summer: on 28 August 2025, Barcelona and RCD Mallorca announced an agreement for his transfer. Barça retained a percentage of any future sale and also a right of first refusal. Jan Virgili’s club story inside Barcelona is therefore the story of a young attacking footballer who stood out for U19A, helped win major trophies, debuted and scored for Barça Atlètic, and then moved on to the next stage of his professional career.
