Club Career

Diego Kochen is a young goalkeeper regarded as one of the promising talents in FC Barcelona’s system. According to the club, he was born in Miami and joined Barça in the summer of 2019 from the Marcet Foundation. From that point on, his development took place inside the club’s academy structure, where he quickly began to stand out as one of the most talented players in his age group. Kochen gradually progressed from the youth levels to a higher competitive stage. FC Barcelona notes that by the end of 2022 he was already working with Barça Atlètic and featured in a friendly against Olot. That was an important step in his transition toward the reserve side and senior football. In February 2024, Barcelona officially announced that Diego Kochen would remain at the club until June 30, 2028. The club also confirmed that, once he turned 18, he would officially be included in the Barça Atlètic squad for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. That decision was another clear sign of the club’s trust in the young goalkeeper. During that same period, Kochen began to move closer to the first team. The club reported that he was being called up as goalkeeping cover, and in December 2023 he made his senior debut in a friendly match in Dallas. He was later part of the first-team tour of the United States in the summer of 2024 and was also included on Barcelona’s Champions League list. All of this shows that Barça view him as one of their young goalkeepers with serious long-term potential. In the 2024/25 season, Kochen was already playing for Barça Atlètic at official level. In August 2024, he started for the reserve side against Real Unión, and the club’s official match report specifically highlighted his goalkeeping performance. Diego Kochen’s club history is therefore the story of a goalkeeper who came through La Masia, established himself within Barça Atlètic, and gradually moved closer to the first team.
